Middle School
Art Curriculum
In middle school the art studio serves as a venue for self exploration and expression as students continue to grow in individual ways. Subject matter is student driven as growing artists are expected to achieve a greater sense of autonomy. Middle school art students will use the art vocabulary they have developed to create work that speaks about the way they view the world. They are expected to collaborate with their peers to critique through the creative processes as they develop their own independent body of work to be displayed at the end of each semester. They experience a wide breadth of media and process. Please click the project buttons at the top of the page to see more about their art experience.
Visual Storytelling
7th and 8th grade students will be exploring the storytelling possibilities of visual art. Throughout this semester they will create work that speaks of their own narrative interests. They will create artist statements that reflect the story behind their chosen images.
